Dredge the Vermilion Board Member Jeffery Svendson has been elected President of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation.

The Foundations Press Release is below:

Jeffery M. Svendson Sr., a longtime member of several conservation organizations and owner of Advanced Logistics, LLC, of Lafayette was elected as the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) President on March 4, 2021.

Svendson, who previously held the position of Vice President of the Foundation, will serve as President for a two-year term. Svendson replaces Christopher M. Kinsey of Shreveport, who will remain on the LAWFF Board of Directors.

“It’s certainly a great honor to be elected to this post and I look forward to serving and continuing to work to make Louisiana the Sportsman’s Paradise” Svendson said. “Our organization works diligently to help maintain our state’s abundant natural resources. We’ll continue to work closely with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in making sure that future generations can enjoy Louisiana outdoors to the fullest.”

Headquartered in Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation’s (LAWFF) mission is to enhance and encourage public enjoyment and use of the wildlife and fisheries resources in this state. With this mission, we promote, develop, and expand the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) in youth recruitment, environmental education and training, and habitat conservation.

Upon its creation in December 1995, it was envisioned as a Foundation that would promote the welfare of LDWF, reflecting the belief that there was more to accomplish than governmental resources could cover. The proposed Foundation would support department education and research programs with additional resources developed through its own facilities.

Dredge the Vermilion(DTV) has been actively working with the LDWF with a  purpose to develop a plan and strategy to utilize some of the 1.6 million acres LDWF wildlife management areas, refuges, lakes, and conservation areas as floodplain and retention areas. The focus of the work with LDWF will also include LA DOTD who manages the water control structures in the LDWF lakes.

DTV congratulates Jeffery on his role with the Federation and we believe his election will strengthen our relationship with the LWFD in finding flood mitigation project opportunities in the Teche-Vermilion Watershed.
