As we are coming up on the 5th anniversary of the tragic August 2016 flood event Dredge the Vermilion (DTV) will be hosting a series of Neighborhood Flood Meetings in and around Lafayette.

Dredge the Vermilion (DTV) will be Hosting a Neighborhood Flood Meeting in Bendel Gardens 6:30pm Monday July 19 at DTV Board Member Bob Hammack’s residence at 411 Beverly in Bendel Gardens.

We will be covering the following items:

  1. Overview of DTV, our guiding principles,ย  and who we have been working with in identifying flood mitigation projects
  2. Overview of the Teche-Vermilion Watershed
  3. A current Regional and Local Flood Risk Update
  4. Status of regional flood mitigation project initiatives
  5. Status of major localย  flood mitigation projects initatives
  6. Questions, Answers, and how you can help

Several of our local political leaders have been invited including City Councilwoman Nanette Cook and Parish Council John Guilbeau. Your attendance will show them the citizens of the community have not forgot about what happened and are demanding this risk be addressed.

Dredge the Vermilion (DTV) is a non-profit 501(C)(3) setup to inform the public about the need to identify and to perform regional drainage projects in the Teche-Vermilion watershed.
The board of DTV are all citizen volunteers with varying backgrounds from engineering, business owners, business management, medical, and legal.
