August 23, 2019. Baton Rouge, LA–Dredge the Vermilion (DTV) presented the case for dredging the Vermilion River to the Mississippi River Commission (MRC) and the US Army Corps of Engineers during the public meeting conducted on the Motor Vessel Mississippi in Baton Rouge, LA. Dredge the Vermilion was represented by both President Dave Dixon and Vice-President Harold Schoeffler. Also presenting was LCG Councilwoman Nanette Cook regarding dredging the Vermilion River. Attending the public meeting were many state and parish officials as well as the top military staff and civilian managers for the US Army Corps of Engineers as well as Col Greg Ellison of US Rep Clay Higgins office in Lafayette. DTV had a chance to meet and speak one-on-one to several board members of the MRC as well as top staff for the USACE concerning our situation.
