January 2, 2020 Lafayette LA–Dredge the Vermilion (DTV) had separate meetings with St. Martin Parish Public Works Director Kasey Courville and ULL LA Watershed Flood Center’s Dr. Emad Habib.
Members of the DTV board of directors and DTV board adviser Pam Granger P. E. met with St. Martin
Parish Public Works Director Kasey Courville at the McCabe Engineering office in Youngsville.
Additionally, they met with ULL LA Watershed Flood Center’s Dr. Emad Habib and his graduate assistant
at his office at ULL Dept. of Civil Engineering. In both meetings DTV presented their flood risk assessment regarding the two major coulees that empty into the river in Lafayette Parish.
The objective of the St Martin meeting was to share this data with their public works and to ask them to
support a proposed LWI Project submittal that identifies the presence of and recommends removal of
spoil banks along the river in St. Martin Parish.
The meeting with ULL was to ask them to assist with additional modeling of Cypress Island for the
proposed LWI Project submittal regarding removal of spoil banks along the river.
